I have been wanting to work on a revamp of my blog for a long long time. What I noticed before was my blog lacked the ability to quickly search for a blog post, or a keyword. Also it wasn’t easy and quick to shop for items. So a blog re-design is overdue! I’d also like to use this blog post to share an outfit with my dark beige vintage Chanel bag.
Now is the perfect time since I have been at home a lot more during the pandemic. I needed this project to get my creative juices flowing. It is still a work in progress because I’m working on the design and implementation myself. So as we’re speaking, I’m still tweaking and changing things around here.
Although most of the blog stays the same, I wanted to highlight some new features that I was able to add this round to make my blog easier to navigate and find what you’re looking for:
Search for anything, on the top menu bar
On a desktop, you’ll be able to see a magnifying glass icon. Click on it and you can type in a keyword to search my site:
On a tablet or a phone, the search bar is hidden under the “hamburger button”. Tap that, and you’ll see a similar Search text box.
A similar Search bar appears again on the side nav bar as well if you start scrolling down on a desktop. And towards the very bottom of the site on mobile.
Shop items from a blog post right from the home page
This is one of my favorite features I added in this round of redesign. If you saw some items I’ve mentioned recently on the blog, or on Instagram, and want to look for them quickly in my latest blog posts, you can now shop for them directly on the home page.
Here is an example of how you can shop my birthday post outfit directly on the home page:
Also I’d like to note that not all blog posts will have shoppable items. So for those, you wouldn’t see a “Shop This Post” widget.
Special Promo Codes
I started this section on the side bar to make it easy to find all the special promotion codes in one place. I also include the links to the brands so you can easily click to shop and apply the promo codes.
This list is updated regularly to make sure the codes are active and the brand offers are up to date.
Please note that these promo codes mean I have an affiliation with the brands. I receive a small commission on purchases made with my code. And because of that, these promotions are typically better than the ones you see available to the public. They’re specifically codes for my readers only. Thank you for using these codes as you shop because it helps show the brands that my followers are interested. That way I can continue providing the discount to you.
Currently Coveting
And lastly, but certainly not least, is a small section on the home page that allows me to share what I’m currently coveting. You can see it by scrolling down past previews of two blog posts.
Right now, since we are approaching Mother’s Day, I have this as “Mother’s Day Gift Ideas” to share my favorite picks for Mother’s Day gifts. But usually, this will be my style picks relevant to the season or latest finds I love. Again, clickable to shop the items!
That sums up what I wanted to highlight this round of design. Again, this is still a work in progress for me. So if anything is broken, please bear with me. I’m constantly working to update and make my blog better and more useful. So I hope you enjoy these new features and the new look on my website. And let me know what you like/dislike about the new blog design. I welcome your feedback and will take it into consideration for the next round of design.
To close out this blog post, I’d love to share a favorite spring outfit from this week: gingham peplum top sporting my new Chanel bag. This is a dark beige vintage Chanel bag in size XL Jumbo, I purchased pre-loved from Fashionphile. I cannot be anymore in love with both this top and this bag. I’ve been loving the simple formula for a spring look: straight leg jeans and a pretty spring blouse. This is one of those formulas you can repeat through out the season. What do you think of this look? Would you wear something like this?

That bag is awesome.
Do you have any thoughts on the price increase of Chanel?

Thank you so much! And I think it’s unnecessary during this time, given the economy. My guess, which could totally be wrong, could it be their strategy to make up for the lost sales during boutique closure? Since a lot of people rush to go purchase the classic flap bags before the increase takes place. Here’s an article on people line up outside boutiques to purchase: https://www.scmp.com/lifestyle/fashion-beauty/article/3084309/chanel-raising-handbag-prices-shoppers-south-korea-china

I saw this! Maybe they wanted to make quick day days before the rise. But still, done in poor taste.
