Petite Guide: How to wear a slit tunic top

May 5, 2016

To be honest, tunic is one of my favorite items, but also, to be honest, I don’t like styling tunic. Mostly because I’m a petite frame, and to wear a tunic is a hard task! I do love tunic, don’t get me wrong, but I still need to keep learning the best ways to style them. I just don’t want to be swallowed by the thing you know. When I wear a tunic badly (which I do too often), my proportion is just out of whack: where is my waist, where do my legs actually start and end? Everything of my body just seems lost under there.

So let me let you in on a huge secret! When I discovered this, it pretty much changed my life! One of my favorite things to look for in a tunic is the magical slit on the sides. Yes, this is an amazing feature you can find in some tunic pieces, and I will tell you why. You can now tuck in your long tunic in the front and leave the back side flowing. That way you don’t get lost under this top, and yet you don’t have to tuck in the whole shirt and defeat the purpose of a tunic. If you’re not a petite, well then, you can wear it however you like my dear, tuck or no tuck.

If you find any tunic with slits on the sides, please do share with me. I’m kinda obsessed with this style now.

Mine worn above is from Bare Anthology, and it’s under $40! Bare Anthology is an online boutique with beautiful bohemian and contemporary styles. Check out their new spring/summer arrivals here. I’m so in love with the maxi dresses and jumpsuits in this collection, and the prices are also affordable. Let me know what you think of this slit tunic top or Bare Anthology’s collection!

As a fellow petite girl I’m 100% guilty of wearing a tunic badly as well. I’d all but given up on them but LOVE the tucked look you’re rocking. I’ll definitely give it a try as well!

So cute! I love this look and your photos! Great tips also, because I have a petite frame too and it’s hard to find a tunic I love. I will have to look for the slits on the side! xx

✨ Wood signs for my little Prince baby shower ✨:

- I ordered custom adhesive vinyl decals to be printed for large dimensions (around 3-5 ft tall).
- Cut the shapes out, and trace the shapes on wood boards (I used 1/4” thick plywood).
- I put painter tape around the traced line to reduce wood chipping when cutting with a saw later.
- Cut the shapes on the wood boards with a jig saw.
- Brad nail leftover woods on the back to make a stand for the signs (some small pieces of 2x4 worked well).
- Apply the adhesive back of the art decals onto the wood signs.
- Enjoy! 🩵✨🎠

☺️ What I’d do different if I do this again:
1. The horse and carriage are ok, but I’d loved the castle to be taller.
2. Use foam boards instead of wood for lighter weight. Wood would be great if these signs will be outside where it might be windy, but for indoors event, I would do foam.

My birth story 🤰🏻:
I went to bed at 39w3d with contractions 10 minutes apart, but had thought they were faux labor contractions (because I had Braxton Hicks and prodromal contractions most of pregnancy) so I didn’t think much of it. I woke up at 2am and called my doctor at 4am since contractions were 7 min apart (still thinking they were not real 😂). Good thing she told me to come in. I debated if I should put makeup on and decided to not - wise decision! During the car ride, 7 min apart became 5 min apart. When we arrived at hospital, I was 6cm dilated. I asked for epidural and by the time I got one, I was 8cm dilated. I started pushing shortly after, and baby came after 20 minutes of pushing.
