I feel so incredibly blessed and lucky to have my baby shower brunch last month before the arrival of baby Woodside. My dear friend Natasha from Polished Avenue hosted a beautiful shower for me and I’m sharing all the details in this post today.
From simple baby shower decorations, baby shower game ideas and baby shower backdrop, Natasha got all the important details figured out!
1. Whimsical baby shower
I’m having a little girl, and whimsical, girly and colorful would be the perfect words to describe this baby girl baby shower theme.
Once settled on a theme, pick out a restaurant or a place to host the event. A lot of the time, you can do it at someone’s house, a venue, or a restaurant. Keep in mind how the decor (wall color or the overall aesthetic) could affect your theme and color palette.
Natasha picked a local restaurant in Denver with a beautiful baby blue wall as our backdrop. It makes everything pop.
The wood table and white chairs add a touch of rustic chic. And the gold vases along with greenery and colorful floral mix from the centerpiece add the perfect amount of whimsy to the overall decor.
2. Baby shower decoration ideas
Almost every baby shower has decor items. These include banner, board/sign, wall hangings, theme items (for my whimsical baby shower, you can see these items would be the flowers on the long table). Also decorative cups, plates, napkins, party hats, party poppers, confetti etc.
For my baby shower centerpiece, Natasha collaborated with Manofatto shop to arrange the most beautiful florals. We got lots of compliments on these arrangement from the restaurant clients who happened to pass by.
Seasonal flowers would make great centerpieces for your baby shower. We are in the middle of summer, so these dahlias, roses, snapdragons are absolutely stunning.
Natasha also worked with Swoozies to set up a banner and paper floral fans to go on the wall. Such an adorable (and simple to set up) baby shower backdrop idea!
3. Food and drinks
Natasha and I wanted this event to be a fun and intimate baby shower brunch with the girls. So we chose a preggo friendly menu of food and drinks from the restaurant.
For sweets, Natasha ordered a gluten free chocolate cake from Whole Foods. She also requested them to write on it “Welcome Baby Girl!” How cute! And it was rich and delicious.
4. Activities and games you can play at a baby shower
This is totally optional. But some fun games could be a great idea for a baby shower. Think of easy things you could do for a round table and don’t require too much moving around.
Guess the belly measurement, guess the baby’s name or if the mom doesn’t want to reveal it, guess the initial. Those were the two games we played. They are easy to set up and easy to play. Everyone took their guesses and wrote them on a piece of paper.
Make sure you plan a couple of small gifts for the winner(s).
Also, other fun activities that look good in photos include throwing confetti and party poppers. Natasha got these poppers from Swoozies as well and we went outside to pop them and take fun photos. It’s a fun activity to do with friends and it sure makes everyone giggle.
5. Hire a photographer for the baby shower!
Yes, this is one of those events that needs to be documented and go in the family album. If you have the budget, hiring a professional photographer for a couple hours is highly recommended.
Having a professional really helps. Everyone can be in a photo at the same time. You get plenty of candid shots while activities are going on, and you won’t have to worry about editing photos later.
I got so lucky that Natasha found Kristiina Craven to photograph the baby shower brunch for us. She’s great at taking photos for events and I love the candid shots she captured for us in the moments. If you are having any event in Denver, make sure you check out her portfolio.
6. Congratulations and have so much fun
And last item on the guide: have fun and enjoy celebrating the mama to be! It is such a beautiful and exciting time. I hope this guide to a cute baby shower idea helps you on where to get started planning and hosting one. Just like any event, be sure to start the planning early!
I’d also like to dedicate this post to say my tremendous thanks to:
Natasha for planning this fabulous baby shower brunch for me (check out her version of the post here).
Manofatto for the beautiful floral arrangements.
Swoozies for the adorable party decor, banner and party favors.
Kristiina for the stunning photos. And
All these amazing ladies whom I know from the world of blogging. Not only did they spend their Sunday morning to attend the event but also for the love and presents they’ve shared with me and baby L. Woodside.
