Summer days are my favorite. But summer hair is hard. I don’t want to wash my hair daily, as not to dry out my hair. I also don’t want to use heat styling tools too often, as not to damage my hair. So, what to do in between wash days without damaging hair and still looking fresh and cute?
I’m partnering with Pantene to share these summer hair hacks with you. These can be used for anyone. But if you have medium to long hair, these tips are especially even more helpful!
Hack: Use dry shampoo in between wash days to freshen up
Did you know it’s actually better to not wash your hair every day, because over washing could dry out your hair and may strip off color treatment on your hair too? I wash my hair twice a week. So, on those days in between washes, I need some help to freshen up before heading out the door or hopping on a Zoom call. I use Pantene Never Tell Dry Shampoo Spray from the Pantene Waterless Collection that is an invisible spray to absorb the excess oil and dirt. It leaves my hair smelling and looking fresh.
How to use:
- I use this spray on day 2 or 3 after wash day to refresh, or as needed.
- Shake well before and during use
- Part and lift sections of hair, and spray Pantene Never Tell Dry Shampoo directly at roots or scalp.
- Massage with your fingertips and brush out hair. All done!
Hack: Use a dry conditioner spray to tame frizzy & tangled hair
If your hair is frizzy or tangled, you can smooth it out and give your hair a nice silky finish with a dry conditioner spray. I use Pantene Mist Behaving Dry Conditioner Mist on the mid to end sections to give my hair a nourishment boost and detangle hair before styling. Think of this fine mist as a love child of a leave-in conditioner and a styling spray. It leaves my hair with a smooth and soft texture.
Tip: You can pair this with Pantene Never Tell Dry Shampoo Spray for a flawless hair look. Use this Mist Behaving Dry Conditioner Mist on hair mid and end sections, and Never Tell Dry Shampoo Spray on the roots or scalp.
How to use:
- Hold the can 6-8 inches away from hair (not too close, so you can distribute product better)
- Spray on your mid to end sections of hair. Do not spray at roots.
- Style as usual.
Hack: Use a headband to keep your hair away from the face
One of the quickest and easiest way to keep summer sweaty hair from sticking to your face is to wear a cute headband. If you have bangs, you can also braid them to one or either sides to create a cute braid look. This way, your hair is kept away from your face. If you happen to sweat, the headband or braid can also help sweats from rolling down onto your face.
Hack: Add a scarf to your braid for a fun twist
If you’re avoiding heat styling tools, and braiding your hair instead, this is a fun trick to instantly elevate your braids! Add a pretty scarf to the braid.
How to:
- Start with a high ponytail, tie a soft scarf to the hair tie. You will have 2 ends of the scarf of about equal length.
- Section your hair into 3 sections like how you would normally do a braid. Include the two ends of the scarf with any two of the three sections.
- Braid your hair like usual.
- If you have extra scarf at the end, tie the ends into a bow and you’re all done!
Those are some summer hair hacks for medium to long hair. If you try and love any of these, let me know! What’s your favorite hair trick to do in summertime to look cute and doesn’t take a lot of effort?
